What should I expect during my first visit to Nova Spine & Pain Centers?
During a visit to Nova Spine & Pain Centers, patients are examined and evaluated by our expert physician, aided by his staff. By conducting a thorough evaluation, and conferring with the patient, we can assess pain symptoms and gain a better understanding of what treatment should be employed.
Once the cause of pain is determined, and a treatment plan is devised, our physician will be able to guide the patient through the process of how his or her pain will be treated, managed and cared for to insure relief and an improved quality of life.
How can I be seen by a pain management specialist?
Making an appointment with us can be as simple as a phone call to our office. Whether or not a referral is needed (some health plans do not require a referral), Nova Spine & Pain Centers work closely with our patients’ primary care physicians to insure good communication, which in turn helps provide our patients with the optimum care they deserve. Patients are also often referred by specialists who deal with different types of pain problems. Back surgeons, neurologists, cancer doctors and other specialists usually work regularly with a pain physician and can refer patients to one.
At Nova Spine & Pain Centers, the goal of Dr. Shaikh and our entire staff is to work together with our patients to relieve chronic pain and the stress it causes, as well as improve function. Our approach is guided by the biopsychosocial model of pain management care, and each patient is treated with a personalized plan to improve quality of life and proactively treat and relieve pain.
